Qatar's Flagbearers for the Paralympic Opening Ceremony
Ali Arshad and Sarah Masoud to Represent Qatar
Qatari athletes Ali Arshad and Sarah Masoud have been chosen to carry the country's flag at the opening ceremony of the Paralympic Games in Paris.
Arshad, a powerlifter, and Masoud, a swimmer, were selected for their outstanding achievements in their respective sports.
Arshad's Accomplishments
- Won a gold medal at the 2021 World Para Powerlifting Championships
- Set a new world record in the men's 59kg category
- Ranked number one in the world in his weight class
Masoud's Accomplishments
- Won a bronze medal at the 2021 World Para Swimming Championships
- Set a new national record in the women's 100m breaststroke
- Qualified for the Paralympic Games in three events
The Paralympic Games will be held in Paris from August 25 to September 10, 2024.
Arshad and Masoud will be among the more than 4,000 athletes from over 160 countries competing in the Games.
The opening ceremony will be held at the Stade de France in Paris on August 25.
